- Generalmajor Karl Marthinson, head of the Norwegian State Police, was assassinated in Oslo, Norway by the Milorg resistance group. The Germans retaliated by executing 29 civilians. ww2dbase [TH]
- The UKR chief of Soviet 1st Byelorussian Front Aleksandr Vadis reported that of the 184 German agents captured by SMERSH in Jan 1945, 124 of them had orders to sabotage Soviet war efforts. ww2dbase [CPC]
