- Operation Goodwood I and Goodwood II: British carrier aircraft (32 Barracuda dive bombers and 43 fighters) from HMS Formidable, Indefatigable, Furious, Nabob, and Trumpeter attacked German battleship Tirpitz to little effect. ww2dbase [Tirpitz | CPC]

- Patrol Boat No. 102 departed Cavite, Philippines for Manila, conducting compass calibration trials en route; she arrived at Manila at 1143 hours. ww2dbase [Stewart | Cavite | CPC]
- 111/KG3 of the German Air Force launched 21 sorties during the early hours from their new base at Venlo in the south east of the Netherlands. All Heinkel bombers returned safely after launching their V-1 flying bombs. One of these impacted on just half a mile down Oak Lane, where the railway bridge had just been repaired.
