- Gato-class submarine USS Silversides arrived at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii concluding her seventh war patrol. Her commanding officer, LtCdr J.S. Coye, received the Navy Cross for his actions during this patrol. ww2dbase [Silversides | Pearl Harbor, Oahu | DS]
- Aichi held the first test flight of the submarine-borne attack aircraft M6A1 Seiran over Ise Bay. Lieutenant Commander Tadashi Funada was the chief test pilot. - USS Bluefish attacked a Japanese convoy in the South China Sea, sinking two tankers and damaging several other ships; she expended 18 torpedoes in this series of attacks, 13 of which made hits. ww2dbase [Bluefish | South China Sea | CPC]
