ww2dbaseLaohwangping Airfield, located 1 kilometer northwest of Jiuzhouzhen, Guizhou Province, China, was the primary base for the US 35th Photographic Reconnaissance Squadron, which flew photographic reconnaissance variant of P-38 Lightning aircraft. It was used from Feb 1945 through the end of the war. The airfield also hosted P-51 Mustang fighters of 76th Fighter Squadron of US 23rd Fighter Group. It had a compressed earth runway and wooden buildings. The base was closed in Sep 1945 and the buildings were taken down. The land is now being used for agriculture.
