ww2dbaseThe Suichuan Airfield (Postal Map romanization: Suichwan) was estabilshed by the Americans in Jiangxi Province, China as a base for photographic reconnaissance variant of P-38 Lightning aircraft. The airfield was in operation between Oct 1943 and Jun 1944, between Nov 1944 and Jan 1945, and between 30 Apr 1945 and Oct 1945; the periods of inoperation in between was due to the advance Japanese front lines. After the war, the airfield was abandoned.

This is the field out of which Winfred Sordelett flew on a P-38 recce flight reported as 2200 miles over Sasebo and Nagasaki on 31 Oct 1943. It was only reported nine months later, around 18 July 1944 (AP).
