ww2dbaseThe Takao Seaplane base in Takao (now Kaohsiung) in southern Taiwan was at times incorrectly referred to in US military documents as "Reigaryo Seaplane Base" or "Reigaryo Seaplane Station". It featured a 420-foot by 120-foot hangar with two ramps into Takao Harbor. The US Navy concluded that this seaplane base saw only limited use, thus it escaped major raids (such as the large scale carrier raid of 12 Oct 1944) relatively unharmed. After the war, the seaplane facilities were removed, and an area of water before it was reclaimed for industrial facilities.
