TREAT HER LIKE A LADY:

With a natural metal finish many pilots kept
the fighter clean, some even put a coat of wax, to add a couple of knots of speed and in a dogfight every bit of speed helps.

Aircraft is a North American P-5B/C Mustang and was the prime variant used from Dec.1943 to Mar.1944 until the P-51D arrived in Europe
but remained in combat, until the end of the war May 1945.
