Elra-Maschinenwerke was a weapons producer
that built fighter planes and other military equipment. The Erla Hauba canopy had less framing, and was a design improvement over the Bf 109s standard heavy framed canopy it
was offend called the Galland Hood.
The Russians captured the plant, as they steam rolled through the Fatherland, after WWII it was under control of the Russians, and later turned over to East Germany.

Some reports state that the Galland Hood actually refers to the refined cowl introduced with the G-9 model , the G-9 never went into production but a similar cowl appeared on the much used G-10 and somewhat rarer K model .

Messerschmitt Bf 109G-14 fighter is fitted with the improved Erla Hauba canopy, offend called the Galland Hood.
Bullet-proof glass replaced the armor plate behind the pilot, photo shows this fighter armed with 2x13mm machine guns and 1x20mm cannon firing through the propeller boss, no wing 20mm cannon gondolas are fitted, and carrying 1x300 liter drop tank.
Beginning in 1944 the G-14s had a new tail with larger rudder, lengthened tailwheel and circular radio antenna behind the radio mast.
Armed with a mix of cannons and machine guns
2x13mm machine guns w/300rpg, 1x20mm cannon
w/150rounds.
2x13mm machine guns w/300rpg, 1x30mm cannon
w/65rounds or 2x20mm cannons in gondolas w/125rpg and 2x210mm Wgr. 21 Mortar tubes. Bf 109G models were armed with this mix of weapons.
1x300Liter drop tank or 1x250kg (550lb bomb)
