Captain Fancourt was Royal Navy, not RAF.

Thanks for noting that Andrew. The service branch was misidentified by the photographer and we had previously kept it sic erat scriptum. After your note, we do see that it was probably better to provide proper information and point out the error on the backside image (see https://ww2db.com/photo.php?list=sp&sp=series&image_id=11858 ). Full names for these men were:
Captain Henry Lockhart St John Fancourt DSO
He served on HMS Princess Royal at Jutland
John Walter Reeves Jr. Later a Rear Admiral at the Battle of the Philippine Sea in 1944.

I have a nice original letter Captain Fancourt wrote to Captain Reeves. The letter is dated April 27, 1942, with Captain Fancourt's signature.
