A small number of Ki-48 Lily bombers were taken over by the Nationalist Chinese. Photograph shows Ki-48s at Nanking, China August 1945.
Many of the Japanese aircraft suffered from
mechanical problems, lack of spare parts was one of the reasons the Nationalists made little active use of them.
Some Japanese remained in China after the war
as instructors and mechanics, the Nationalist
Air Force was in a better position to use
aircraft supplied by the United States such as the P-51, P-38, P-40 Fighters, Bombers, Trainers and Transports.

The Russians turned over a large number of
Japanese aircraft that they captured to the Communist Chinese who used them against the Nationalist but also ran into the same shortage of spare-parts and mechanical problems.
With the help of Japanese pilots and mechanics who stayed in China to become instructors, many of the aircraft were returned to service but only after cannibalizing the planes to keep others flying some aircraft remained in service into the early 1950s

The Nationalists operated US aircraft and received support, besides operating the captured Japanese aircraft.

Chinese Communist received Russian support and were supplied with fighters such as the Lavochkin La-9 & La-11 and Yakovlev Yak-9, along with trainers and transports it also operated captured Japanese and American aircraft.
