OOPS! MY MISTAKE THE INVASION OF THE SOVIET UION WAS ON JUNE 22, 1941. SOMETIMES, I TYPE TOO FAST AND FORGET TO PROOF READ.
THE RED ARMY WAS THE DECISIVE FORCE IN THE ALLIED VICTORY IN WWII. ABOUT 80% OF GERMAN LOSSES WERE ON THE EASTERN FRONT. TOTAL LOSSES FROM ALL CAUSES WERE OVER 11,000,000 THAT'S ALMOST NINE OUT OF TEN GERMAN SOLDIERS, WHO DIED ON THE EASTERN FRONT.
TOTAL WAR:
IT WAS TOTAL WAR AND BRUTAL 30,000,000 WERE KILLED ON THE EASTERN FRONT ALONE GERMANY AND THE SOVIET UNION WERE AT WAR FROM JUNE 22,1941 TO MAY 9,1945.(3 YEARS,10 MONTHS,2 WEEKS AND 3 DAYS)
RESULTS:
DECISIVE ALLIED VICTORY, END OF THE WAR IN EUROPE, DEFEAT OF NAZI GERMANY AND ITS ALLIES.
SOVIET UNION OCCUPIES EASTERN EUROPE SET UP AND SUPPORTS COMMUNIST GOVERNMENTS ALLIED TO
THE USSR.
EVENTS:
DOMINATION OF EASTERN EUROPE, PARTITION OF GERMANY INTO EAST AND WEST, START OF THE COLD WAR, BECAME A NUCLEAR AND SUPERPOWER CREATION OF THE WARSAW PACT.
THE USSR CONTINUED TO MAINTAIN LARGE NUMBERS OF TROOPS IN THE OCCUPIED COUNTRIES.
THE USSR CONTINUED TO MAINTAIN A WARTIME FOOTING, THAT LATER COST IT IN INDUSTRIAL AND IN ECONOMIC PROSPERITY...

Interesting pic, definitely 1943 or after because of the presence of M43 tunics and shoulderboards. What is the most interesting is how many SSH36 helmets are still seen as well as the older M35 tunics.

SOLDIERS OF THE RED ARMY DO YOUR DUTY CRUSH AND DEFEAT THE HATED FASCIST INVADERS:
THE RED ARMY REACHED OVER 30,000,000 MEN, IN ADDITION TO THE 4,800,00 IN SERVICE ON JUNE 2,1941,BY 1945 THE ARMY HAD OVER 500 REGULAR INFANTRY DIVISIONS. WITHOUT THE RED ARMY, AND THE GERMAN INVASION OF THE SOVIET UNION, JUNE 22, 1941 AND THE OPENING OF A SECOND FRONT, WWII WOULD HAVE TAKEN THE ALLIES LONGER TO DEFEAT NAZI GERMANY.
YOU GO TO WAR, WITH WHAT YOU HAVE:
LET'S SEE WHAT THESE TROOPS HAVE BEEN ISSUED LOOKS LIKE A MIX OF M36 AND M40 STEEL HELMETS, THE M36 WAS BEING PHASED OUT AT THE START OF THE WAR BEING REPLACED WITH THE NEW M40, BUT WAS STILL USED IN THE EASTERN AND NORTHERN THEATERS.
SOME OF THE TROOPS ARE WEARING THE M35 SOFT SIDECAP(PILOTKA),UNIFORMS ARE M35 SUMMER FIELD DRESS W/BEDDING ROLL CARRIED OVER THE SHOULDER, RANKS LOOK LIKE A LIEUTENANT WHO IS READING FIELD ORDERS TO THE PRIVATES, HAS BEEN ISSUED A CANTEEN AND MAP CASE.
WEAPONS ARE A MIX OF PPSh-41 SUB MACHINE GUNS, MOSIN-NAGANT BOLT-ACTION M1890 RIFLES,
AND A FEW SVT SEMI-AUTO RIFLES.
