The 85mm 52K M1939 entered service with the Red Army in 1939, it was a scaled up version of the Model 1938, KS 12.
The Germans captured large amounts of Soviet weapons and put them to use, among them were the 85mm guns, in German service they became the Flak M.39(r)
Later during WWII, the 85mm gun became the main armament of the famous T-34/85 Tank.
