This is Doolittle Crew #5 (fifth to fly off Hornet). L to R they are: Lt Eugene F McGurl (Navigator), Capt David M Jones (Pilot), Lt Denver V Truelove (Bombardier), Lt Rodney R “Hoss” Wilder (Co-Pilot), Sgt Joseph W Manske (Engineer/Gunner). All survived the mission after parachuting into China. Lt McGurl was killed in action in Burma in 1942 and Capt Trulove was killed in action over Italy in 1943. Capt Jones became a POW in Germany and survived the war, as did the other two.
