The fighter that nearly cut "All American" in half was a Messerschmitt 109, not a Focke Wulf. It's believed that the pilot was Feldwebel Erich Paczia from 6/JG 53.

Gee's The pilots must have had amazing skills to bring this Bomber back to base.One would think that the wind rushing through the gap would have lifted the tail right off.........
