My Dad, Charles Leonard BELMER served on the USS SARATOGA during the Kamikaze attacks at IWO JIMA. I was almost never born...My Dad served in the galley...the soldier next to him got hit by the engine of the Kamikaze plane...killing his friend and launching my Dad's body clear across the galley. .I KNOW THE COST OF FREEDOM....I would like to offer my sincere deep condolences to the entire family of the man who lost his life, which allowed my Dad to survive .. he was 1 of 123 deaths aboard the SARA. RIP DEAR SIR.
