My 85-year old father is one of the "24 Marines" on Chi Chi Jima (3rd Marines, 1st Battallion) and one of the squad of 8 Marines that captured General Tachibana. Thank you for this database and this photo.

The Japanese officers standing behind Gen Tachibana are (left to right): Lieutenant Commander I. Shinoda, Major Y. Horie, Captain J. Sato and Captain S. Terasawa.
