B5N2, EI-305 Launched into the wind from the
Shokaku. Aircraft were not catapulted off the deck.

Shokaku's air group was Fifteen A6M2-21 Zero/Zeke fighters Twentyseven D3A Val dive bombers and Twentyseven B5N Kate attack bombers.
First wave attack force Forty B5N2s armed w/torpedos and Fifty B5N2s armed w/armor piercing bombs.
The 800kg bomb was a 40cm armor piercing
projectile. It was armed with two tail fuses
and could penetrate 150mm of armor plate.
These weapons were only used at Pearl Harbor

The morning of Dec. 7, 1941 the seas were
heavy, takeoff's were difficult from carriers
listing, as much as 15 degrees, but there was
no delay.
