Famous WW2 Quote
"You ask, what is our aim? I can answer in one word. It is victory. Victory at all costs. Victory in spite of all terrors. Victory, however long and hard the road may be, for without victory there is no survival."Winston Churchill

The first B-29 to land on Iwo Jima was named “Dinah Might” and flew with 9th Bomb Group based on Tinian in the Marianas. “Dinah Might” was returning from Japan and landed on the airstrip when one end was held by the Japanese and the other by the US Marines. The airplane’s problems were corrected and it took off for Tinian later the same day.
