DEFANGED FIGHTER:

Fighter is a Mitsubishi designed A6M2 Model 21
Zero(Zeke) Allied code-name. Nakajima was also contracted to build the Zero. As the war progressed many aircraft were abandoned due to the lack of spare-part, fuel shortages or able to transport them to another location for repairs.

Armament 2 x 7.7mm machine guns with w/500 rounds per gun, and 2 x 20mm cannons with 60 rounds per gun. Later models of the Zero were up gunned w/
improved engines to combat newer Allied fighters.

FIRST STRIKE:

At the start of the Pacific War, the Imperial
Japanese Navy had available over 400 Zeros many of its pilots were the best trained and combat experienced in the world at that time.

MADE IN JAPAN:

Mitsubishi Built 3,879 and Nakajima Built 6,215
Nakajima also built a seaplane version of the Zero, the A6M2-N (Rufe) Allied code-name with 327 aircraft built.
