After sitting on raised stands at this location for 67 years, this airplane (s/n 44-85790) was removed Aug 13, 2014 and transported to Aurora Airport in Oregon where the B-17 Alliance Group has begun restoring the bomber to flying status.

Came across this site. I need info about 101st bomber group. My uncle served as a tailgunner. Robert Brown was a tail gunner. Any info would be great. Thanks

I don’t think there ever was a 101st Bomb Group but there was a 101st Bomb Squadron (Photographic). This squadron was known as the 39th Observation Squadron for most of its existence but in 1944 became the 101st Bomb Squadron (Photographic). The squadron spent most of the war based at the Canal Zone and then Waller Field in Trinidad. All their other assignments were within the US and the squadron was deactivated in Dec 1945.

Your best source of information on your father’s military service is to request his service records from the National Archives.
