RECOVER AIRCRAFT, CLEAR THE DECK!
Did you know that Supermarine worked on a
carrier-based version of the land-based Spitfire as early as 1940. Carrier landing deck trials were carried out in 1942, the Royal Navy placed orders for IIC production.
In file photo, check out the LSO Landing System Officer right side of photo with paddles. Landing gear, flaps and hook down for approach, If the LSO gives the pilot a wave off, he's gotta go around to make another approach. Check out the port side of carrier, is life guard destroyer.
