I cant believe this happened. Im studying about this battle so im in aw right now.

My Dad, Dale P. Reed was on the UUS Sanborn during this. He only spoke about the invasion once. Other Navy stuff yes, Iwo Jime only once. He went out on a landing craft with the fixed lines to secure the boat and shot a M-16 over his head. He enlisted at 17 yrs old.

My Dad, Lester Morris, from Honey Island, Texas served on the Sanborn and was a member of the beach party who made the landing on Iwo Jima on February 19.
