This photo is stamped as a Mare Island photo but it was taken well before arrival at Mare Island. Several reinforcing irons were welded across the buckled sections for added strength before sailing across the Pacific and only one is seen here. This is a ship’s photo filed at Mare Island once the ship arrived a month later.
