USMC AU-1 designed for ground attack. Aircraft was powered by a Pratt & Whitney R-2800-83W Double Wasp rated at 2,300 hp for take-off and 2,800 hp with water injection. Speed 439mph, Range 484 mls, Armament Four 20mm T-31 cannons with 924 rounds in all. Up to 4,000 lbs of bombs, or 10 x 5-in rockets. About 111 aircraft were built and mainly going to the US Marine Corps in 1952.
