MOUNT FUJI PHOTO OPT: REDUX

Show of strenght formation of B-29s over the Empire. Before and during WWII all the
Japanese aircraft manufactures took photos of fighters and bombers over Mt.Fuji.
I can't see any other way to intimidate the Japanese by flying over Mt.Fuji...much less anywhere over Japan itself.

B-29s fly past Mount Fuji to firebomb Tokyo on the night of March 9/10 1945.

OPERATION MEETINGHOUSE:

This operation was carried out buy 334 B-29, 14 B-29s were lost, 1,700 tons of bombs were dropped, 16 square miles of Tokyo was destroyed with over 100,000 killed, by the end of WWII over 50% of Tokyo was destroyed.

OVER THE EMPIRE: FILE PHOTO

Formation of B-29s from the 498th Bomb Group 73rd Bomb Wing based in Saipan make's a fly by over Mt. Fuji. Tonight's target Tokyo. By this time USAAF and Allied fighters and bombers flew at will over Japan.
