Peter,
PVT James in the caption above is not in the Army Nurse Corps (ANC). She is a WAC, Women's Army Corps. The 6888th Postal Battalion was created specifically to unsnarl a massive Mail Backlog in Birmingham in January '45, and did the same later here in Rouen. They were under the QM Corps, and ultimately my grandfather, LTG John C. H. Lee.
