If I remember correctly, the pilot of this Zero - it was salvaged and test-flown against our planes, helping the design of our decisively superior Grumman Hellcat carrier fighter - was trying to strafe/kill the crew of a downed and sinking PBY flying boat, off the Aleutians, and one of its gunners got back in that and critically damaged the Zero, forcing it down (and breaking the pilot's neck) in return.

Of coarse the allies would never strafe people downed aircraft or in liferafts would they because that would be a war crime.
The funny thing is that Oscar winning Damien Parer in his documentary on the Battle of the Bismark Sea includes lots of footage of USAAF and RAAF aircraft straffing the 15,000 survivors liferafts and floats. Go to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=azanISsx19c and go to the five minute mark and start watching.
Then pack your hipocracy away and admit war is all about mans inhumanity to man and all sides are equally guilty.
