My father, Garth Patton, was with the 4th Marine Defense Battalion on Vella Lavella. He served with Bill Noble, Don Bean, Eric Green, and Doc Harris. If anyone has pictures or other relevant material on this unit, I would be interested in knowing more about them.

My dad, David Elder, also served with the 4th defense Battalion, USMC, at Vella Lavella

I am gathering information for a book project. One of the twenty one stories in the book is about a Marine who was with the 4th Defense Battalion at Vella Lavella. I would be interested in any combat related stories. The vet's name was William Duffey.
