PANTHER 302 WHAT'S YOUR POSITION: OUT OF THE FIGHT
Did this Panther run out of fuel or suffer some type mechanical failure. Turret is rotated to the Six O'Clock position. Did the crew fire all its ammo and abandoned the tank.
WAR PRIZE:
Was the Panther later used to test and evaluate
German armor, or was it scrapped after WWII thousands of destroyed and abandoned vehicles were
were salvaged or scrapped. Post-War armies used as much German and Allied vehicles as possible until replaced with newer equipment.
HUNTING PANTHER: JAGDPANTHER
Another development of the Panther family was the Hunting Panther photo not shown. Armed w/1 x 88mm gun w/57 rounds and 2 x 7.92mm machine guns with 600 rounds but I don't buy that tankers are going to carry as much ammo as they can and my guess is over 3,000 rounds that MG34 eats a lot of lead.
Production records very between 392 to 415 were built and used on the Eastern front, Western front and during the Battle of the Bulge many were lost to Allied fighter-bombers, artillery, mines or mechanical failure.
SO WHERE ARE THEY NOW:
Two Jagdpanthers are in museums in Germany and one is in located the UK.
