A tragic, but great, historically significant photo. A more accurate description would be bomb damage in front of the Cathay Hotel (now Peace Hotel) on Nanjing Rd. You can make out the words "Cathay Hotel" above the entrance. This angle is looking toward the Huangpu River and Pudong.
