OTTO ITS COLD, I'M WET AND TIRED WE'LL MAKE IT HOME, WE GOTTA MAKE IT HOME...WITH YOUR LUCK KARL, YOU'LL LIVE A LONG LIFE, AND DIE IN YOUR OWN BED...

LOOKS LIKE OUR NCO WITH THE FIELD GLASSES IS HOPING NOT TO FIND ANYBODY OUT THERE, HE'S BEEN ISSUED THE WINTER JACKET AND TROUSERS,
M1943 FIELD CAP, WINTER GLOVES.
HIS WEAPON IS THE MP44 STURMGEWEHR OR ASSAULT RIFLE, THAT USED THE 7.92x33mm KURZ OR (SHORT ROUND) IT WAS A GAS OPERATED, MAGAZINE FEED, SELECTIVE FIRE AUTO OR SEMI AUTOMATIC SHOULDER WEAPON. 425,000 WERE MANUFACTURED IN SERVICE FROM 1943 TO 1945.

KARL HAS SET UP HIS MG42 AS A HEAVY MACHINE GUN MOUNTED ON A TRIPOD, I DON'T SEE ANY TELESCOPIC SIGHT.

I REMEMBER SERVING IN WEST GERMANY DURING THE WINTER OF 1966, LET ME TELL YOU IT WAS COLD, REALLY COLD, AND LIKE KARL, I WAS ON THE GROUND WITH MY M60 MACHINE GUN SOAKING UP THE SNOW AND RAIN, IT WASN'T FUN AT ALL. LATER ON I DID HAVE SOME FUN AND A CHANCE TO MAKE A SNOWMAN, PUT MY HELMET ON HIM, AND GAVE HIM MY RIFLE...HAVE THAT PHOTO SOMEWHERE
