WIN SOME LOOSE SOME:
Tigers first saw action with sPz.Abt.502
Southeast of Leningrad, on Ausust 29, 1942.
TANKS IN THE MUD:
This first action, Four Tigers were deployed single file (a no, no in armored warfare
easy pickins for anti-tank guns) over marshy ground unsuitable for a Tiger, or any other Tank. Three brokedown and had to be recovered.
Later in the same operating area Four were knocked-out by anti-tank guns, Three were later recovered, One was destroyed by its crew to prevent capture.
RUN LIKE A TIGER:
The Tiger worked best in open hard and flat terrain. With its superior gun and optics its mission was to destroy enemy armor and dominate the battlefield.
