FEAR FACTOR:
The Tiger was an impressive piece of military technology, the downside, it was produced in limited numbers, and was never a factor in the production wars between Germany and the Allies. It was over engineered, complicated, suffered from mechanical breakdowns, and needed constant maintenance.
Road marches created even more problems for its
overworked drivetrain and consumed large amounts of fuel. It was also a logistical nightmare moving battalions from one location to another.
The Tiger stood out on the battlefield it weighed 120,000lbs, was 27 feet long and 9feet 10in.high
fuel consumption 2.75 gallons per mile
KILLER ELITE:
Trained crews could kill targets at far as 2000 4000 up to 6000 meters!! its combined armor, firepower and optics could out gun any allied tank. Tiger crews were highly trained tankers and veterans of past campaigns picked for their combat experience in battle.
During the last years of the war, instructors both Officer and NCOs were rushed as replacements to make up for losses and lead the Panzer troops.
PANZERLIED: SONG OF THE PANZERTRUPPEN
This song was brought to the big screen in the 1965 movie Battle of the Bulge inspecting his panzer troops, Robert Shaw (Colonel Hessler) turns to his Commanding General and says their boys, all young boys.
In turn the young Panzertruppen start to sing Panzer Lied. Both veteran and the inexperienced troops are ready to defend the Fatherland.
ARMED AND DANGEROUS:
Armed with the famous 8.8cm, 88mm KwK36L/56 and carried between 92 to 120 rounds. With secondary
armament of 2 x 7.92mm MG34 machine guns w/5700 rounds. Looking at the above file photo our Tiger is equipped with a Zeiss Turmzielfernrohr TZ9b Binocular Sight and has Zimmerit anti-magnetic paste applied to the hull and turret, and extra track links for added protection on the turret side.
OAK LEAVES INSIGNIA: 1ST SS NORMANDY TIGER
Tiger of s.SS.Pz.Abt.101 placed their insignia on
left side of front hull. Shield w/two keys with Oak leaves.
When its Commander Josef "Sepp" Dietrich was awarded the Knights Cross w/Oak Leaves in 1941 the Division honored their commander by adding oak leaves to the insignia...
STICKER SHOCK:
Some sources list the price of one Tiger tank was between 300,000 to 800,00 Reich Marks. Did you know it took 300,000 man hours to build one Tiger tank. Production wars in 1942 (25) Tigers were produced per month with a high of (104) per month by 1944

ITS CALLED TIGERPHOBIA! UP CLOSE & PERSONAL
Did you know...
The Tiger was the first tank to use animal names by the German army, after that came the Panther and the Elephant.
NEW CAT IN TOWN: THE LEOPARD 2, THE NEXT GENERATION
Once again the Germans have succeeded in designing a tank with high success in three areas of tank design:
Mobility
Firepower
Armor Protection
