MACHINES, BUILD MACHINES:
Tiger I hull being built, several horizontal
spindel bores cut openings for the suspension
the openings for the drivers visor, machine gun and the hatches have been cut.
HOW MUCH, I'LL BUY IT:
Its been estimated the cost of one Tiger I
was 250,800 RM plus the cost of equipment,
the 88mm gun will increase the unit cost.
It took about 300,000 man-hours to build one Tiger.
YOU KNOW THE GERMANS BUILD GOOD STUFF:
The Tiger weighing 56 tons, was made from the
best German rolled homogeneous nickel-steel
plate armor.
The Tiger I was designed to dominate the battlefield.
It was just to over-engineered, the quality that went into the tank, that would have a service life of minutes, hours, days or months, not decades of peacetime service.
