Hitler once asked for a car loan, he had his eye on a 1924 Mercedes-Benz Model 11/40 for
18,000 Reichmarks.

Its not known if Hitler ever received his car loan but, years later he got just about everything he ever wanted an Army, Navy and an Air Force a whole Country and its people, plus an Empire and a fleet of Mercedes-Benz Automobiles.

Mercedes-Benz built 88, Model 770Ks that were delivered to the Chancellery motor pool.
Nobody knows who drove the cars, or who sat in them, Hitler didn't have a drivers licence
and stood or sat in many of them.

CARS DON'T KILL PEOPLE, PEOPLE DO...

Surviving cars are in collections and valued in the millions of dollars. To some it may be creepy to buy and keep the cars that were part of a regime, the murdered millions and changed the course of world history.
These cars are part of history, and we must remember never to repeat such a dark time in history ever again...looking at the file photograph, one can almost hear the crowd yell..Sieg Heil, Sieg Heil, Sieg Heil...

The 770K was 20 feet long, had 2,000lb of armor plate 1/2 inch thick, bullet-proof glass 1 1/2 inches thick, carried 500lb of fuel, oil and radiator coolent and weighted 10,000lbs. Powered by a stright 8-cylinder engine of 230hp with a top speed of 100mph.

PUBLIC RELATIONS: WORKING THE FAITHFUL

Hitler rode in different Mercedes-Benz, 770k's that were assigned to the Reich Chancellery motor pool. It isn't known if the Fuhrer had a favorite car, ready for his use at all times, if so no records have survived.

PINK SLIP:

No records exist if Hitler had ever applied for a drivers license. All automobiles were owned by the National Socialist Workers Party and used for parades and other official party duties.

Limited number of vehicles were assigned to the
garage so these cars were off limits for the local SS-Gruppenfuhrer to take Burtha out for a late night drive around Berlin.

THE FUHRER'S BIG BOY:

Another one of Hitler's rides was the big boy, the
six wheel Mercedes-Benz G-4 his off the road
car, fifty-seven were built.

STATUS SYMBOLS FOR THE INNER CIRCLE:

Joseph Goebbels had his Mercedes-Benz 540k,
Hermann Goering's Mercedes-Benz 540k and Horch 853, Martin Borman's Mercedes-Benz 320.
Joachim Von Ribbentrop's Mercedes-Benz, Heinrich Himmler's BMW and Mercedes-Benz.

Other cars employed by the Nazi big wigs were the Opel Olympia Sedan, Opel Kapitaen Staff car,
Mercedes-Benz 170 VK and Mercedes-Benz 260 Sedan.

BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE: SS AND GESTAPO

The Gestapo and the SS used the Mercedes-Benz 170V and the Mercedes-Benz 260 Sedan other makes of cars were BMW, Opel and Auto-Union
that is known today as Audi

ANYTHING ON WHEELS THAT LOOKED GOOD:

Did you know that during WWII the Germans commandeered (stole) cars from the occupied countries.

WINNER TAKE ALL:

After WWII the Russians shipped thousands upon thousands of cars, light and heavy trucks, buses, heavy and light machinery, motorcycles, motorbikes, horse-drawn farm carts even wheel barrels anything on wheels. The Russians even got their hands on 80% of Germany's aircraft factories.
