"Meat Hound" (B-17F-55-BO #42-29524 of 303rd BG "Hell’s Angels," 358th BS) was damaged on a massive U.S. bomber raid against Focke-Wulf airplane factories at Oschersleben, Germany. Pilot, 2Lt Jack W. Watson of Indianapolis, Indiana, ordered his crew to bail out over Holland before attempting the flight across the English Channel. Watson then crashlanded his plane at Metfield, England an auxiliary air field. Of the 9 who bailed out, 4 KIA, 4 POW, 1 evaded and returned to England 25 May 1945.
