BIG GULP:

The Tiger gets thirsty with a range of about
195 km/120 miles it uses 540 Liters of fuel
about 142 US Gallons, and gets around 2mpg!
not counting offroad, onroad or idiling and
having to use fuel to start and get the beast moving.

JUST GETTING THERE WAS A PROBLEM:

One Tiger on a 60 mile road march would use 150 gallons of fuel! maintaining fuel and oil for a Company must have been a problem.

And then you have breakdowns the other Tigers have to tow, that uses more fuel and
puts strain on the towing Tigers engine and transmission..bang there goes another Tiger, now you have two breakdowns things are going from bad to worse!
The convoy of support vehicles has to slow to the speed of the Tigers.

FEEDING THE TIGERS!

By 1944 the Tigers consumed 35.8 tons of fuel, for every 100 miles. Germany received
about 45% of its oil from Romania despite its fuel shortage, German Industry doubled its tank production to 50% in 1944.
