ww2dbaseHorst Petri was a member of the German Nazi SS organization. He was posted to L'viv (German: Lemberg), Ukraine during the German occupation of Ukraine. In uniform, he participated in the murder and deportation of the local Jewish population. At home, he routinely mistreated the forced laborers on his agricultural estate of Grzenda. His wife Erna Kürbs Petri also joined him in the murder of Jews at Grzenda. In 1962, the couple was found guilty by the government of East Germany; Horst Petri was sentenced to death and Erna Petri was given a life sentence.
