ww2dbaseKinai Maru, a 8360 gross ton diesel-powered freighter, was built at Nagasaki, Japan, in 1930. Owned by the Osaka Syosen K.K., she operated commercially during the next decade, and was employed in support of Japan's war effort after the Pacific War began in late 1941. On 11 May 1943 the MS Kinai Maru was torpedoed and sunk by the U.S. submarine Plunger.
