ww2dbaseConcord's shakedown cruise took her through the Mediterranean, through the Suez Canal, around the African continent, and then she returned to North American; the trip lasted between 23 Nov 1923 and 9 Apr 1924. During the remainder of the years before WW2, she acted as the flagship of destroyer squadrons, participated in exercises on both American coasts, and cruised the Pacific. She was based in Pearl Harbor when the Pacific War loomed close.

ww2dbaseWhen the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor in Dec 1941, Concord was at San Diego undergoing an overhaul. The overhaul completed in Feb 1942, and sailed to Bora Bora in the Society Islands with the rest of her fleet mates of the Southeast Pacific Force. During a trip to survey islands of the Southeast Pacific in late 1943, she suffered a gasoline explosion which killed 22 men; she sailed for Panama for repairs. The repairs were completed in Mar 1944, at which time she joined the Northern Pacific Force, with which fleet she bombarded Japanese bases in the Kurile Islands and interfered with Japanese shipping in that region.

ww2dbaseAfter the war, Concord covered occupation landings at Ominato, Japan, before returning to Philadelphia via the Panama Canal. She was decommissioned before the end of the year.
