  • Cen Zeliu led a flight of I-15bis fighters on a ground strafing mission near Lanfeng, Henan Province, China. They were intercepted by Japanese Ki-27 and Ki-10 fighters, which shot down 8 Chinese fighters and forced 2 to crash land. Only Cen and Lieutenant Ma Kwok-lim escaped from harm.   • Tan Kun, flying a P-40N fighter, conducted a reconnaissance mission over Luoyang, Henan Province, China. He shot down one Ki-44 aircraft of Japanese 9th Sentai and another Ki-44 aircraft of a different unit between Luoyang and Longmen to the south. Suffering a punctured fuel tank, he crash landed successfully in friendly territory.   • Five Chinese-American Composite Wing (Provisional) P-40N fighters from Ankang Airfield in Shaanxi Province, China escorted seven bomb-laden P-40N fighter-bombers of 7th Fighter Squadron of CACW on a mission to attack the Japanese airfield and rail station at Zhengzhou, Henan, China. 7 Ki-44 fighters of the Japanese 9th Sentai rose to intercept, shooting down 5.
